Around the world: Nagarkot
People come here to watch the sunrise. I came here on a whim because Laura the French girl suggested it and I have 3 days to burn before I have to be back and get my Visa.
Somehow, a combination of rushing to catch up with people, long lineups at the ATM and incompatible chip technology forced me to land in Nagarkot with only 1000 Nepalese Rupees. (approx $10). I grabbed some good samaritan Canadian couple and asked them if they’ll exchange $10 usd with me. I now have a way to pay for the hotel for two nights.
The way to Nagarkot through the local route is by taking the local bus to Bhaktapur first and then from there, take the bus to Nagrkot at the North East side of the town. Some of these buses are so small that if you have to stand, you have to bend your head at a 90 degree.
I negotiated a hotel room for 500 Nepalese Rupees. A room with a good sunrise view and cold showers. I did it by asking the price (1800) and then realizing that it was the wring place. When I ask them directions to a cheaper place, they decided to let me stay for 500.
At this point, I am not even sure if I am doing it on purpose. I seem to believe in my story, but these stories just conveniently left me with great bargains.

There was something I remembered Laura mentioning. That shemet some Nepalese guys and they drove her around in their bicycles to see the surrounding. I didn’t think much about it until I saw several of them while I was hiking around with foreigners. That’s when I realized that these are the Nepalese version of Giggolos who specifically target foreign woman. Why am I so narcicistic you ask? Because I haven’t seen any who are driving foreign guys around for free.
I thing it is a healthy thing that allows for more mixing. Just unfair in my mind as I cannot get as many free stuff as woman. I wish there are female version of giggolos who can drive me around. Some of these Nepalese girls are very pretty. Then again, I never have to worry about being raped on the road, so there is an equal exchange
